Bud Weisbart, A&R Tarpaulins Inc. vice president, and student employee Ms. Yukasa Shida, in her final year as an MBA student, were inducted into the Sigma Nu Tau Entrepreneurship Honor Society at Cal State San Bernardino. The induction took place during the charter meeting of the Honor Society at the university and was in recognition of the School of Business and Public Administration and its world renowned entrepreneurship curriculum.

“It was quite a surprise,” said Weisbart. “We were there to make a presentation to the honor roll students and had no prior knowledge that we would be honored by being inducted into this newly formed chapter; it’s quite an honor for us and our co-workers.”

The Sigma Nu Tau Entrepreneurship Honor Society is an academic society dedicated to principled entrepreneurship. Established in 2009, the society aims to promote, recognize, honor and reward academic excellence in entrepreneurship and to encourage and recognize the practice of principled entrepreneurship.

Founded in 1976, A&R Tarpaulins has a history of business excellence. The manufacturer has been nominated for and won numerous awards, including the Spirit of the Entrepreneur Award, a Region IX Jeffrey Butland Family-owned Business of the Year honor and recognition from the United States Air Force, among others.

“While it is a great honor, it’s really not about winning awards,” Weisbart said. “It’s about running a business that not only provides quality products and a great work environment, but also about the benefits for employees while challenging the industry in which we are part of to be better and still be profitable.”
