Aurora Specialty Textiles Group, Inc. (ASTG) received the 2012 Specialty Graphics Imaging Association (SGIA) Sustainability Recognition Award for the second consecutive year.

SGIA created the Sustainability Recognition Awards to recognize member companies that develop a sustainable business ethic, requiring a strong commitment from the company’s management and workforce. Awards are based on submission of required program information and the facility’s sustainability policy.

Aurora Specialty Textiles Group, Inc. has a long-term sustainability vision, which includes investments in capital projects that will allow the company to modernize its 100-year old building. ASTG plans to reduce gas and electrical consumption in boilers and ranges as well as reduce steam trap and airline leaks. The result will be less energy required and lower emissions. According to Mike Richardson, director of Sales/Marketing-Print Media, “We have not only recognized higher than expected operational savings by updating assets, but also improved our operational working conditions, such as air quality. It is a win, not only for Aurora, but also for our surrounding environment.”

ASTG’s environmental policy and its ISO 14001 environmental certificate have been added to the company website. Internally, ASTG has posted environmental banners throughout their facilities and conducted employee communication meetings for project updates.
