The National Women’s Business Council (NWBC) has announced its new executive director: Amanda Brown. Brown was most recently the national political director for Rock the Vote. She is a Forbes 2014 30-under-30 recipient and has previously served as an Advisor for Strategic Planning to the U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu.

“I believe that Amanda’s proven leadership abilities, vision, relationships and execution skills will enable us to create even more traction as a leading voice on economic issues facing women entrepreneurs,” said NWBC chair Carla Harris. “I’m thrilled to have Amanda on board and am excited to have her work with us, to advance the Council’s initiatives in 2014 and beyond.”

Brown joins the NWBC armed with a wealth of experience in forging partnerships, executing grassroots campaigns, advising key influencers in the nation’s capital, and building brand awareness. She will be working closely with Krystal Glass, communications director; Erin Kelley, research and policy director; Miriam Segal, research assistant; and Taylor Barnes, special assistant.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of a team of successful women-and working every day to advance the narrative and needs of women entrepreneurs,” said Brown. “Women entrepreneurs are significant contributors to our economy. This is proven, and cannot afford to go unnoticed. I am committed to this cause and ensuring that the challenges and opportunities of women business owners are amplified through the National Women’s Business Council.”

The National Women’s Business Council is a non-partisan federal advisory council created to serve as an independent source of advice and counsel to the President, Congress, and the U.S. Small Business Administration on economic issues of importance to women business owners. The Council houses data and research on women business owners and uses its research to make pivotal policy recommendations to advance economic gains for women business owners.
