Southeast Asia’s exports on the rise

India, Bangladesh and Pakistan are seeing an increase in textile and apparel exports as those from China, Vietnam and Cambodia decline in the U.S., according to a report by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA). Exports from India increased by 15.3 percent in March 2016 compared with February 2015; Bangladeshi exports increased by 7.9 percent during the same period, and Pakistani exports increased by 8.8 percent. China’s textile and apparel exports declined by 42.1 percent in March 2016 compared with March 2015. Vietnam’s decline for the period was 22.6 percent and Cambodia’s was 34.4 percent.
