We’ve belonged to IFAI for a very long time and have especially benefited from the international contacts. We meet people at the conferences from all over the world—not just people from the United States. In 1985 at an IFAI Tent Expo conference in Orlando, Fla., my husband [Spencer Tankard] presented at a seminar to inform attendees on the New Zealand market. Contacts we made there also helped us to start the business in the U.S. We learned about the U.S. market, connected with our Baytex USA partner and were able to establish clients.
We also value the awards program. We won an IAA (International Achievement Award) for one of our performance tents some years ago. And now that IFAI has partnered with OFPANZ (Outdoor Fabric Products Association of New Zealand) our projects that win OFPANZ Awards of Excellence are automatically entered into IFAI’s IAA contest.
