The Marine Fabricators Association (MFA) held its national convention Jan. 20–22 at the Hilton Riverside in New Orleans, La., showcasing the marine fabricator industry’s latest products. This year’s convention had more than 110 fabricators and 30 suppliers, making it the largest turnout in recent years.
With a beautiful view of the Mississippi River on one side and downtown New Orleans on the other, the venue was ideal for the event. The convention opened with keynote speaker Jim Besse, New Orleans native and licensed tour guide, giving an entertaining presentation on the history, culture, architecture, music and events in the Crescent City.
Educational sessions, hands-on demonstrations and visits to local canvas shops offered a variety of learning experiences for attendees. Industry experts presented on several topics, such as partnering with other shops, advanced framing and design, patterning and assembling an enclosure and cushion fabrication.
