Almost 100 industry professionals gathered on San Antonio’s famed Riverwalk for conference sessions, exhibits and networking at Tent Conference 2014, an annual event of the Tent Rental Division (TRD) of IFAI.
The first day’s keynote session, A Code Conversation, featured industry experts, including representatives from the State of Kentucky, the International Code Council and a leading fire protection engineer, discussing critical code issues and how they impact tent rental operations. In addition, attendees were able to gather best practices from Gary Stansberry, rental company consultant, and tent renters heard how Leslie Uppinghouse, event producer from South by Southwest, the world’s largest music festival, selects her tent rental partners.
Biff Gentsch, Anchor Industries, is the new TRD chair and will serve a two-year term. Mike Holland, Chattanooga Tent, is now vice chair; Tom Markel, Bravo Events and Tommy
Wilson, All Occasion Event Rental, began their first three-year terms. Members continuing to serve include Alex Renaud, Fiesta Tents; Brian Richardson, L & A Tent Rentals; Dave MacArthur, Losberger US LLC; Linc Aldershof, Verseidag Seemee US Inc.; and Richard Martin, Universal Resource Supply.
TRD extends a special thank you to outgoing committee members for their commitment and dedication to the organization: Dan Nolan, Tents Unlimited, who fulfilled his two-year term as chair and is assuming the role of ex-officio; Jim Reyen, Eureka! Tents, who has fulfilled his two-year term as ex-officio; and Jim Bach, Après Party & Tent Rental, who completed the second of two three-year terms.
