U.S. tarps supplier, Tarps Plus, will donate tarps to movie about homeless.
The leading U.S. tarps supplier, IFAI member Tarps Plus, has signed on to support the independent feature film, The Guitar Player. The film is about a homeless man. Tarps will be donated by Tarps Plus to supply the feature film for "tarp drives." The tarp drives will be held at homeless shelters across the country. The film production intends on holding these tarp drives as an incentive for people to help fund the film as well as bring awareness to homeless causes, which is the focal point of the film.
The Guitar Player film production is raising the funds for the film to be made publicly and plans to donate half of the profits of the film to homeless causes. They have so many uses, and tarps are truly universal. We typically see tarps in emergency kits in the house and in the car. Most recently, tarps are playing an important role in helping the people in places like Joplin due to the tornado, or Japan who suffered from the earthquake and subsequent tsunami. Again, they are patching houses and in some cases, making up the walls and/or roof of temporary shelters. Literally hundreds of thousands are being used there.
The poly tarps being supplied by Tarps Plus for the film production will also be used for any production needs the film crew might have. The G.M. of Tarps Plus Angelina Urquardt stated, "We are proud to supply tarps to this film with a great cause."
The tarp drives that are being held are part of a ten thousand dollar pledge package the film production is offering. The package includes: one thousand tarps to be donated to a homeless shelter chosen by the donator, a screening of the film at a movie theater, an associate producer credit in the film, the film's merchandise and a business promo package involving the donator promotion at all the film premieres.
