Divisions of IFAI will host education sessions at 2014 Specialty Fabrics Expo and Advanced Textiles Expo that are of interest to fabricators in specific market areas.
Advanced Textile Products (ATP). On Oct. 16, ATP will present “Advancements in Industrial Textiles: How to Incorporate New Materials into your Business and Enter New Market Segments” to help end product manufacturers from diverse market segments, including traditional markets, improve their range of product offerings by incorportating new materials.
Equipment Division (EQP). Hands-on sewing machine, cutting and welding workshops on manufacturing and maintenance will be held on the IFAI Expo show floor the mornings of Oct.15 and 16. Limited space is available.
Fabric Graphics Association (FGA). FGA and the Tarp Association (TA) will host a graphics and sewing shop tour on Oct. 13. Join industry professionals on a tour of multiple shops in the Twin Cities and enjoy a food truck lunch. Additionally, on Oct. 15 and 16, FGA will hold panel discussions on the topic,“Increase Value and Customize Products.”
Fabric Structures Association (FSA). On Oct. 15 FSA will host “Partnering with Architects,” a panel discussion on how to collaborate and build strong relationships with architects through enhanced understanding of their creative process. There will also be a roundtable discussion with IFAI members from Japan to learn how different countries use industrial fabrics on a daily basis. An architect education session, “Incorporating Fabric into Design,” will be offered for continuing education credits. This panel was held at the 2013 Expo and is being repeated because of high interest.
Marine Fabricators Association (MFA). A marine symposium will be presented Oct. 16. Sessions include “Marine Canvas Track to Track” presented by Steve Szenay; “Boat Tops: Unique Frame Fittings and New Fastener Applications” presented by Don Racine; and a sewing machine workshop presented by Sam Sloan and Ron Russell. Banner Canvas in Minneapolis will host a workshop, including a shop tour and hands-on demonstration.
Narrow Fabrics Institute (NFI). NFI will sponsor “Medical Devices, Fibers, 3D structures & Quad Axial Isotropic Woven Narrow Fabric Medical Devices” featuring Louis Franconi on Oct. 14 during the medical track of the Advanced Textiles Conference.
Professional Awnings Manufacturers Association (PAMA). PAMA will host panel discussions during its awning symposium, Oct. 14–15. “Easy Money from Frequently Neglected Areas” and “PAMA Installation Module” will be held Oct. 14. Three panel discussions will be held Oct. 15: “Shade Sails 101;” “Add Graphics: Increase Value and Customize Products;” and “Working in Partnership with Architects.”
