Strong interest in new technical textiles trade event for Asia Pacific region draws early exhibitors, prominent keynote speaker
(Roseville, MN - May 24, 2010) IFAI Expo Asia 2011 is gaining momentum as the most highly anticipated new technical textile trade show in the Asia Pacific region. Twenty major corporations have already committed to exhibit; and 19 regional organizations have committed their support and are partnering with IFAI to promote this event.
Building upon the objective to make this the dominant event in the Asia Pacific region, IFAI has announced that Wang Tiankai, Vice President of China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC, the national federation of all textile-related industries), will be one of three keynote speakers.
Catering specifically to the Asia Pacific region, IFAI Expo Asia 2011 is a top-to-top, business-to-business platform developed specially to address the growth, concerns and challenges of the industry. Set to take place in the brand new Marina Bay Sands Hotel and Exhibition Centre in Singapore, it is being organized to serve the rapidly growing technical textiles market in the Asia Pacific region.
According to IFAI President and CEO Stephen Warner, "There is a tremendous opportunity for export business in the technical textiles market. Globally, ours is one of the fastest growing sectors in the textile industry.
"The economic landscape in Asia Pacific continues to evolve. The building and construction outlook is robust. New, emerging markets such as medical product devices and smart textile products are being developed.
"In 2009 Asia Pacific governments committed more than $300 billion for green industrial projects--Energy and water conservation, renewable energy, air and water quality; and coastal regeneration. All these are sales possibilities for those in the technical textiles industry and those who make products from these materials," Warner said.
And according to IFAI's 2010 State of the Industry report just published in the February issue of Specialty Fabrics Review magazine, the U.S. remains the largest user market for technical textiles, consuming 23% of the global production, followed by Europe consuming 22%.
David Clarke, President of TenCate North America, strongly supports IFAI Expo Asia 2011. "In my industry alone (geosynthetics), we see the market potential at nearly a half-billion dollars. We currently sell over $40 million in Asia, both locally and exported from the U.S. IFAI Expo Asia 2011 will play a significant role in helping our company achieve its sales goals in Southeast Asia and China," said Clarke.
Warner says that what differentiates IFAI Expo Asia 2011 from other events is that "While current trade shows in India and China focus primarily on the disposable nonwoven industry, IFAI Expo Asia 2011 is the first major event in the region that specifically targets as visitors the end-product fabricators who use all types of durable materials--woven, nonwoven, knit and composite textiles."
This inaugural event has been two years in the planning, and is expected to draw over 100 international and regional exhibitors. About 2,000 trade visitors from Asia, the Pacific and the United States are expected to attend from three targeted audiences:
- Those who are involved in the supply chain seeking networking and partnership opportunities
- The actual fabricators of finished products in applications such as medical, automotive, construction, safety, military, recreation and structures; and
- Those who have design, application and market influence such as government purchasing agencies, civil eng ineers and architects.
Besides the trade exhibition, the four-day event will feature world-class educational symposiums for nine technical textile niche end-markets—
- Medical and Healthcare Application
- Geosynthetic Applications for Infrastructure and Environment
- Technical Nonwoven Applications
- The Future of E-Textiles and Smart Fabrics
- ECO and Sustainable Textiles
- Protective Clothing
- Agricultural Textiles
- Automotive Materials
- Architectural Shade and Structures
Says Warner, "IFAI Expo Asia 2011 is specially designed for a select group of buyers who want the latest product information and personal consultation. It's going to be a customer-centric, one-stop marketplace for the top technical textile players to network and do business."
