The IFAI Professional Certification is valid for 5 years, after which it must be renewed. Continuing Education Units earned during that time period assure that each MFC or IFM is keeping up with new industry developments or techniques and also encourages industry involvement. IFAI provides many opportunities to earn the necessary 20 CEUs for renewal:
Education
Attend an IFAI-approved educational workshop/symposium
4 credits per full day (½ day = 2 credits) – No maximum credits
Presenter
Be a presenter at an IFAI educational workshop or symposium
2 credits per presentation – Maximum of 10 credits
Written article
Write an article for any of the IFAI magazines
2 credits per article – Maximum of 10 credits
Judge
Serve as a judge for an awards competition
1 credit per year of service – Maximum of 5 credits
Serve as a judge for the IFAI Certification Program
1 credit per year of service – Maximum of 5 credits
Board or committee member
Serve as an IFAI/division/country sector board member or committee member
1 credit per year of service – Maximum of 5 credits
Mentor or test proctor
Serve as a mentor or test proctor for the IFAI Professional Certification Program
1 credit per year of service – Maximum of 5 credits
Enter IFAI awards programs
Submit a project for any of the IFAI supported Awards Competitions (IAA, division or country sectors)
1 credit per year of service – Maximum of 5 credits
