NFPA documents open for public comment

(Roseville, MN - June 19, 2012) The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) announces National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) documents open for public comment.

A notice was issued by NIST on behalf of the NFPA to anyone interested in submitting comments about existing fire codes and standards and the development of new codes and standards. This effort is part of an initial step in the revision process of proposed NFPA fire codes and standards.

In the notice, NIST gives a list of all the NFPA fire codes and standards open for public comment. Among the codes and standards listed that are pertinent to the specialty fabric industry are: NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace and NFPA-701 Standard Methods of Fire Test for Flame Propagation of Textiles and Films.

"The purpose of this request is to increase public participation in the system used by NFPA to develop its codes and standards," writes NIST.
