What do customers want in a fabric project?

“Customers want fast production turnover with exact color matches,” says Maureen Kelly, The Design Loft . “Of course, all customers want a project that hangs well.”

“Customers want wrinkle resistance, fabric to be flame retardant, washable and meet a specific color or look,” says Jim Knoche of Lawrence Fabric & Metal Structures Inc.

“Fabricators request that the fabric weight in ounces per square yard or square meter complies with the specifications of a project,” says John Evans of Herculite Products Inc. “Fabricators will base a fabric choice on the printing process applicable to the fabric selected, such as printing with solvent, eco-solvent, UV or latex inks, dye-sublimation or direct printing.

“Customers want a lightweight solution that can be manufactured typically in two weeks or less,” says Valerie Cuchna of Fabric Images Inc. “There are often requests for specific Pantone color matches, and our dye-sublimation process can reproduce an array of colors that match existing rigid substrates, which allows us to meet the production schedule.”
