Water, energy savings for textile mills

Two innovative technologies recently developed by A. Monforts Textilmaschinen GmbH & Co. KG, Germany, have been recognized by the All China Printers and Dyers Association for the important contributions they can make to energy and water savings in textile mills. Monfort’s E-Control process for continuous dyeing, as well as the company’s latest heat recovery system for its Montex stenters, were specifically suggested in the association’s special manual to help mills make their processes more efficient, economical and environmentally benign. The company was recently presented with certificates by the All China Printers and Dyers Association at its annual meeting in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, China.

E-Control saves processing time for both woven and knitted fabrics by completing the dyeing process in minutes, rather than hours; the fabric is dry after the dyeing process, and does not have to be immediately washed out. The heat recovery system on the Monforts Montex stenters takes waste heat produced and discharges it, through exhaust air ducts integrated into the stenter chamber, directly into the heat exchanger, to be used to preheat fresh air for the unit, cutting energy requirements significantly.

China is predicted to become the world’s largest consumer of energy by 2010, but over the past two years prices for all forms of fuel have escalated, causing problems in the manufacturing sector. The country also suffers from a shortfall of nearly 40 billion cubic meters of water a year, according to Minister of Water Resources Chen Lei. Anything that can be done to reduce energy useage and water consumption is of vital importance.
