Cotton matrix becomes ‘Roads’ warrior

Better Roads magazine recognized HydraCX2® Cotton Fiber Reinforced Matrix, a hydraulically applied erosion-control product, as one of its Top Rollouts for 2007. The cotton hydromulch products were developed by North American Green, Evansville, Ill., from cotton-ginning byproducts. “Cotton by nature is porous, absorbent and biodegradable—an excellent trio for controlling erosion and establishing seed,” says Tim Lancaster, president of North American Green.

Developed in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Cotton Incorporated, a research and marketing company representing cotton growers, HydraCX2 is 100 percent natural, nontoxic, adds key nutrients to soil and requires less water during application. Mulch & Seed Innovations LLC, Centre, Ala., manufactures the product exclusively for North American Green, and it is already gaining acceptance among state transportation departments for its effective soil stabilization and medium for fast grass-growth in road-building projects.
