Motorized yacht window system accomodates weather

Japan is an island nation, and yacht owners and dealers in the Japanese market suggested a motorized system to open and close the windshield to accommodate the weather. Marubishi Seisakusho Co. Ltd., Nagoya, Japan, delivered the Toma Flybridge Top and Windshield, a patented solution for the flying bridge boater who wants sea breezes during fair weather and rain protection during foul. After installing 50 systems in Japan, Europe and Australia, Marubishi is seeking U.S. yacht manufacturers who want to offer the motorized windshield system to customers.

The Toma Flybridge curved fabric top is stain- and water-resistant, and also protects boaters from the sun. The stainless steel frame for the top and windshield mounts permanently on the flybridge. According to Seizo Tomatsu, president of Marubishi and creator of the Toma Flybridge system, customers find that “it allows them several extra months of boat use in the spring and fall.”
