Contact insecticide and repellent binds to fibers
No Fly Zone™ technology is a contact insecticide and repellent effective against many crawling and flying insects. The technology, developed by Burlington Labs and available through International Textile Group, Greensboro, N.C., can be processed with various types of fibers, including nylon, polyester, cotton, wool and Nomex®. Because it binds it securely to fibers, it maintains durability up to 110 washings with 89 percent effectiveness. Its active ingredient, permethrin, is a synthetic form of a naturally occurring repellent found in the chrysanthemum flower. An odorless, water-based and biodegradable compound, it is registered for apparel use with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization and approved for use by the U.S. military.
