Camira upholstery fabrics achieve European Union Ecolabel certification

Published On: July 17, 2012

U.K.-based textile innovator Camira Fabrics has achieved an important environmental certification mark for its premium upholstery fabrics Blazer and Blazer Check: the European Union Ecolabel.

The EU Ecolabel helps to identify products and services that have a reduced environmental impact throughout their life cycle, from the sourcing of raw material (pure new wool in this case) through to production, use and disposal. The Ecolabel is symbolized by a flower, so it is easily recognised by businesses and consumers. The criteria for accreditation have been developed by scientists and the application process is evaluated by independent experts, to ensure that applicants are meeting the criteria to reduce environmental impact. No harmful dyes or chemicals can be used, and any dyes or chemicals which are used must be declared and monitored.

Accreditation to the EU Ecolabel demonstrates Camira’s commitment to environmental sustainability. The company has been making environmental fabrics for more than a decade and owns the Second Nature trademark label designating fabrics made from recycled raw materials, renewable or compostable fibers, or climate neutral.

Blazer is a luxurious pure new wool blend upholstery fabric with a billiard cloth felted finish. Available in the perfect balance of saturated solids and contemporary melange shades, it is soft to handle, easy to upholster and comes with a 5-year wear warranty. Blazer Check is a bold and confident design inspired by the traditional tartan fabrics of the Scottish highlands to create maximum impact on soft seating. Stock is distributed out of Indianapolis, Ind.
