Netting new customers in Amsterdam

The DH International Fashion Factory B.V., Naarden, The Netherlands, wanted its knitted and woven apparel products to grab customers’ attention at the “De Modefabriek in RAI” trade show in Amsterdam in January 2012. The company commissioned Zeil-Doek B.V., a tensioned-fabric design and build company in Montfoort, The Netherlands, to develop a display that would draw prospective customers into its intricate web. Designer Grietje Schepers complied by designing a honeycombed fabric net that floated above the clients’ products and commanded the attention of trade show visitors.

Zeil-Doek BV (the name translates into English as Sail Cloth) used more than 16,000 square feet of fabric to fashion the net. The company chose white VALMEX® FR 650-2 fabric manufactured by Mehler Texnologies for its fire resistance and flexibility. Computer-generated design and a computer-controlled cutting robot ensured that cuts were consistent, and the structure was thermally welded together. Zeil-Doek provided storage boxes for easy transport of the structure to and from the trade show.
