Wittek-Design-Weberei GmbH upholstery fabric shifts to DIOLEN®SAFE yarns

Published On: August 31, 2012

The shift of the high-quality Wittek-Design-Weberei upholstery fabric collection to DIOLEN®SAFE yarn qualities has recently been completed. Eight years ago the owners of the company, Evelin und Walter Wittek, both professional textile designers, expanded their studio business by purchasing the weaving company Heger, with the goal of even more individual and flexible support of exclusive clients in the contract sector. The company creates the design and produces high-end jacquard and dobby weave fabric collections for well- known international furnishing contractors, furniture manufacturers, textile editors and wholesalers.

Of particular interest to Wittek-Design-Weberei were the recent DIOLENSAFE taslan yarn developments that supplement the basic assortment of FR Safety Yarns GmbH & Co. KG and allow multifarious color variations and mouliné effects. According to individual customer requirements and the desired effect up to six different colors may be incorporated in the taslan yarn counts.

Evelin Wittek, co-owner of the Wittek-Design-Weberei GmbH commented: “Before we establish long-term supplier relationships we want to know if they are in line with our corporate and product philosophy. Apart from the fact that they deliver excellent yarn qualities and excel in outstanding reliability, we opted for FR Safety Yarns GmbH & Co. as a partner, because we felt a high level of consensus with respect to a responsible dealing with resources and the environment. The Cradle to Cradle® certification of the yarns is perfectly in line with our product philosophy. In all that we do, we respect sustainability criteria and the ethical and social acceptability.”

DIOLEN®SAFE yarns are produced according to the Cradle to Cradle® principles and place exceedingly high demands on the use of environmentally safe and recyclable materials. They’re extremely skin friendly, and free from heavy metals and halogens.
