Anti-dumping duties continue on polyester fiber

November 27th, 2012 / By: / Industry News

A ruling by the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) maintains existing anti-dumping duties of 3.47 to 44.3 percent on polyester staple fiber imported from China. The ITC is required to review duty orders every five years and determine whether conditions have changed and the order could be revoked. The ruling found that if the duties were revoked on Chinese polyester staple fiber, it would “be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury within a reasonably foreseeable time.” The U.S. Commerce Department imposed anti-dumping duties against Chinese polyester staple fiber in 2007, based upon imports of Chinese fiber at prices with which other suppliers could not compete.
