Newlife recycled polyester yarns reaching international markets

Newlife™ is a unique, complete and certified system of recycled polyester yarns obtained entirely from used plastic bottles, transformed into polymers by way of a mechanical process to produce 100 percent Made in Italy yarn. The year has seen an extensive schedule of engagements with the international market.

The Epro BtoB Award, was presented to Newlife™ during the Identiplast Congress, which took place from Nov. 6-7 in Warsaw, Poland. Epro, a European association engaged in the promotion, recycling and reuse of plastic, voted Newlife “Best Recycled Plastic Product 2012,” recognizing the appeal of the Saluzzo Yarns system and the success it is enjoying in a wide range of different application fields, thanks to its high versatility and cutting-edge technology.

On Nov. 8, Newlife™ landed in New York, where the business unit director of Saluzzo Yarns, Stefano Cochis, took part in the Sustainable Fashion Roundtable held at the prestigious Vogue America offices. The event, which saw the participation of select international fashion players, such as American Vogue, Vogue Italia, L’Oréal, Gap, Gucci, Chopard and C.L.A.S.S., was organized by Livia Firth, creator and driving spirit behind the Green Carpet Challenge, in conjunction with the Foundation for Social Change and the United Nations Office for Partnership.

In the same period, Newlife was invited to the Future Fabrics Expo in London as a partner of C.L.A.S.S., the eco-platform and global network of showrooms founded by Giusy Bettoni in 2007 to support and promote eco-friendly products for fashion, home and design, through a vast range of organic, recycled and renewable fabrics, yarns, processes and services. The London exhibition selected and displayed more than 500 fashion fabrics, including Newlife, marked by reduced environmental impact to inspire designers and buyers.

In December, Newlife will make its debut in the corporate wear market. The launch will take place in the occasion of Expoprotection, the Parisian trade fair and international event specializing in workwear, safety and protection. Companies like Balas Textile, Chamatex, Inovetch and Sasytex and making fabrics (100 percent Newlife or blended according to branding policy criteria) are able to guarantee high standard quality and technical perfomance such as quick drying, high UV protection, outstanding breathability and essential anti-bacteria and anti-odor properties.
