Phifer Incorporated has announced its new SheerWeave Style 4000, 4100 and 4400 series fabrics made with sustainable DOW ECOLIBRIUM™ Bio-Based Plasticizers. Phifer is the first and only window coverings manufacturer with exclusive DOW ECOLIBRIUM™ in its fabrics.

“Our SheerWeave® interior sun control fabrics were the first to be certified by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) for superior indoor air quality performance,” said Mark Edwards, senior executive vice president, sales and marketing, of Phifer Incorporated. “By incorporating DOW ECOLIBRIUM into our process, we not only have the potential to reduce our own manufacturing carbon footprint but also offer our end users a greener fabric solution that maintains the same performance, look and feel of standard SheerWeave sun control fabrics.”

DOW ECOLIBRIUM™ Bio-Based Plasticizers are made from 98 percent renewable feedstock and offer a phthalate-free alternative to shades constructed with traditional plasticizers.

The new products provide a reduced carbon footprint and compound that can be recycled in a standard vinyl stream. DOW ECOLIBRIUM™ Bio-Based Plasticizers also reduce greenhouse gases by 40 percent versus traditional plasticizers.

SheerWeave fabrics manage the sun’s heat and glare at the window, improving air conditioning efficiency and protecting interior furnishings from fading—all while maintaining outward visibility. Designed with today’s demanding commercial market in mind, styles 4000, 4100 and 4400 are offered in a range of neutral colors and openness factors ranging from 3 to 5 percent.
