In landfill final cover systems, geocomposite drainage products are frequently used as a drainage layer above the geomembrane layer and for surficial landfill gas collection below the geomembrane. For the first time in the southeastern United States, a final cover system has been constructed using a draintube planar geocomposite product rather than a geonet core. DRAINTUBE© includes two layers of a standard 6 ounce/square yard needle-punched nonwoven geotextile and one-inch diameter corrugated and perforated polypropylene pipes on 20-inch centers, running the entire 246-foot length of each roll. Shown is the product used in the Grady Road Landfill, Rockmart, Ga., U.S.A.
