More workforce training in 2015?

April 1st, 2014 / By: / Industry News

The U.S. Department of Labor has released its fiscal year 2015 budget request, which focuses on preparing workers for ready-to-fill job markets and industries projected to grow in the future. The budget supports reforms to improve training and employment programs to help workers gain skills and return to work quickly. The Department of Labor plans to streamline access to federal job-training programs, engage employers to ensure training is directed toward filling available jobs with skilled applicants and improve employment outcomes. The budget also funds efforts to catalyze new partnerships between community colleges and employers with support for a four-year, $6 billion Community College Job-Driven Training Fund to launch new training programs and apprenticeships.
