Mirafi® geosynthetic outperforms others in Montana State University study.

TenCate Mirafi RS580i performed the best out of all geosynthetics tested by the Western Transportation Institute at Montana State University in Bozeman, Mont.

The independent, full-scale unpaved roadway performance study, entitled “The Relative Operational Performance of Geosynthetics Used as Subgrade Stabilization,” was fully funded by nine U.S. State Departments of Transportation and included eight biaxial geogrids, two multiaxial geogrids and two geotextiles.

According to the study, “the accumulation of rut as a function of truck passes revealed that the TenCate Mirafi RS580i woven geotextile performed the best.” It also provided the best traffic benefit (TBR) ratio and the best base course reduction (BCR) factor.
