A 10-year partnership between Phifer Inc. and World Vision has provided immediate and long-term aid to families in need all over the world—in the form of sleeping cots and hammocks to dividing walls in homes to fabric “canvas” for school children’s art activities, as well as on windows for insect and sun protection.

A global manufacturer of energy-saving sun control fabrics, insect screen, drawn wire, engineered meshes and indoor/outdoor performance furniture fabrics, Phifer, Tuscaloosa, Ala., has donated an abundance of fabrics to the global humanitarian organization, which then distributes the fabric throughout the world. “Phifer was founded in 1952 on the core values of giving back and helping others, and our donations are in keeping with the company’s commitment and beliefs since the beginning,” says director of sales development Gregg Terry.

World Vision, headquartered in Federal Way, Wash., is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. The organization serves all people regardless of religion, race or gender. “Phifer fabric is one of those rare, unique products that enhances many aspects of World Vision’s work worldwide,” says Mary Garcia, corporate engagement director. “Its adaptability and resilience present a multitude of uses, and our field staff are uncovering new applications every year.”
