Canada sets collapsible fuel tank standard

Published On: December 1, 2014

The world’s first collapsible fabric storage tank standard was released by the Canadian Standards Association in July 2014. There was previously no credible reference document detailing the minimum requirements for the use of collapsible bladder fuel storage tanks or pillow tanks. This new standard provides information to ensure the use of collapsible fuel bladder tanks meets the challenges of Canada’s harsh arctic conditions, which is where they are typically deployed. SEI Industries Ltd.,
a Canadian fabric manufacturer that participated in the committee that prepared the new standard, hopes to offer its Arctic King tank as the first bladder certified by an accredited third party in 2015.
