A birthday celebration at a private Beverly Hills estate became a lush, colorful ocean display for an opening day cocktail party, thanks to Revelry Event Designers, Los Angeles, Calif. A 120-foot-long brilliant undersea landscape hung on the side of the large event tent, setting the stage for guests to stroll across the lawn through huge flower-bedecked sculptures of seahorses and starfish or to eat caviar from an ice bar.

Sonia Sharma Events, also of Los Angeles, designed the mesh vinyl ocean view to make the moment magic—and serve as a façade to mask an underlying panel for a different themed party the next day.

The undersea wall consisted of two mesh vinyl panels, each 60-by-28 feet, split into three sections for printing on an M&R Predator LPC 84 screen press, a 120-inch-wide format printer. The mesh vinyl, chosen because of its light weight and better management during windy conditions, retained rich color that completely concealed the subsequent day’s art. Panels were heat welded together and hung using rig pipes extended five feet out from the other surface to hang smooth and flat. The seascape took two days to install, but had to be taken down in just an hour to allow preparation for the next event.
