Oddly shaped spaces in hotel lobbies, galleries or multi-use public buildings can be an interior designer’s nightmare. Designers selecting furnishings for a narrow hallway or cavernous revamped warehouse spend sleepless nights trying to find the right fit—unless they’re in touch with LINA®. LINA design d.o.o., a modular furniture manufacturer in Kamnik, Slovenia, has dreamed up a system of lively sitting elements (or “poufs”) called Roundabout.

The poufs, of varied height, diameter and color, work as chairs or benches that can be composed in any configuration by attaching pieces together with flexible joints. Smart joint elements allow poufs to be rotated around each other. LINA extension elements convert poufs into bar stools, coffee tables or dividers. The variations in number, color, height, width and function of the poufs create a bright, modern mood, whether the space requires a few seats in a quiet corner or riotous clusters to fill a large space. Using the Roundabout system, interior designers have endless options and can position and re-position the poufs to their hearts’ content.

LINA-Roundabout-03The LINA Roundabout elements are made of plywood, high-density foam and fabric covers in primary colors. The poufs are easy to move, configure and store, a significant advantage in multi-use public buildings hosting cocktail parties one week and rock concerts the next. LINA’s Roundabout system won the 2015 Interior Innovation Award from the IMM Cologne Furniture Fair and German Design Council, so the fun is just getting started.
