PAMA workshop at NECPA 2016 Expo

The Professional Awning Manufacturers Association and the Northeast Canvas Products Association are teaming up for a one-day workshop on Friday, Jan. 22 in Springfield, Mass.

The workshop will include a full day of awning-related education sessions during the NECPA’s Annual Meeting and Expo.

Education sessions include:

Principles of Lean Manufacturing
9:00 – 9:45 a.m.

This session will provide an overview of principles of lean manufacturing in a high volume environment. Industry experts will discuss how to transition your company from a traditional manufacturing operation to a lean manufacturing enterprise, eliminating waste and increasing productivity and profitability, allowing you to gain a competitive edge in the marketplace.

Value Stream Mapping
10:00 – 10:45 a.m.

Value stream mapping is a lean implementation method that systematically takes your company from its current state of operations to a dramatically improved future state. In this session you will work on a Value Stream Map (VSM), a tool that delineates and analyzes the flow of materials and information required to bring a product or service to a customer.

Kaizen Rapid Improvement Training
11:00 – 11:45 a.m.

This session will involve a series of activities that are based on a structured 10-step process, which will enable your team to achieve rapid, action-oriented improvements identified during the Value Stream Mapping.

Interactive Q&A: Applying Lean Manufacturing Systems in Awning Fabrication
1:00 – 2:30 p.m.
Andrew Morse & Greg Schmieler

Industry leaders, Andrew Morse of Ohio Awning and Greg Schmieler of Laurel Awning Company, will lead a question and answer session that will include examples of some best practices applying Lean Manufacturing in your awning shop and in the field. Andrew and Greg have significant experience implementing Lean Manufacturing in their own companies and will share their knowledge with you in an anonymous question and answer session in this interactive forum.

OSHA Safety Considerations for Awning Companies
2:45 – 3:30 p.m.

This session will provide information about the OSHA guidelines or awning companies, how to meet compliance and what to do about potential areas of risk.
