Nike’s Flyknit to use only recycled polyester

Published On: March 11, 2016

Nike has announced that all core yarn for its Flyknit styles will be made from recycled polyester. Since the design’s launch four years ago, the knitted manufacturing technique has prevented 3.5 million pounds of waste and has diverted 182 million plastic bottles from landfill. The design has been in development for more than 10 years and the company hopes it will help move away from labor intensive factories in the far East and enable reshoring.
