Last month, Evansville, Ind.–based Anchor Industries said goodbye to long-time employee Louis (Lou) Ray Brown. Brown passed away on August 11 at the age of 83, leaving behind his personal family and friends and his Anchor family.

In his early days at Anchor, Brown worked on the manufacturing floor, quickly rising to the position of manager of tent production. His next step was into tent sales, where he brought with him a vast knowledge of Anchor’s products. Brown oversaw launches of two of Anchor’s most iconic products: the Fiesta® frame tent and the Century® tension tent.

Brown retired from Anchor in 1997 as senior vice president of the tent sales department, concluding a 45-year career with the company.

In 1996 Brown was awarded ATA’s Tent Rental Division (TRD) Bruce W. Wodetzki Award. The award recognizes professionals who impact the growth, direction and success of the tent rental industry.
