India’s garment exports are on track to meet a government goal of $30 billion in the next three years, according to the Apparel Export Promotion Council, the official body of apparel exporters in India. Apparel exports are expected to increase in 2017–2018 due to innovative design, quality of products and initiatives by the government, including a duty drawback plan and increased subsidies for garment manufacturing units. Between 2015–2016 India’s share of textiles and apparel in total exports increased to 15 percent from 13 percent in 2013–2014.
