2018 International Achievement Award Winners Announced

The Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI) has awarded this year’s International Achievement Awards (IAA) for design excellence in specialty fabrics applications, announced at the awards breakfast on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at IFAI Expo 2018. IFAI Expo is the largest specialty fabrics trade show in North America, held this year at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas.

This year, there are 120 winning projects (Awards of Excellence and Outstanding Achievement Awards) in 42 categories. Winners were selected based on complexity, design, workmanship, uniqueness and function. Judges included industry experts, editors, architects, educators and design professionals.

Judges also selected the “Best of Category” winners in each of the seven major award categories (earning the highest total scores among the Award of Excellence winners within that major category).

Fabric Structures: MakMax Australia, for the Warwick Farm Racecourse Parade Ring

Awnings and Canopies: Fabritecture, for the Capital Square Podium

Fabric Environments: Fabric Images, for Pineapple House

Marine Fabrication: David’s Custom Trimmers, for the ‘SV’ E Capoe, Extra Cabin

Tent Rental and Manufacturing: Eventstar Structures, for the Slow Moving Luminaries Art Basel

Geosynthetics: TenCate Geosynthetics Americas, for work on the Ecopetrol Refinery at Barrancabermeja, Colombia, S.A.

Advanced Textiles: AR Tech, Div. A&R Tarpaulins Inc., for the Contamination Cover, Inner Line and Soft Cover Assembly, IPT

For seven decades, IAA has recognized excellence in design and innovation, highlighting truly spectacular work in the specialty fabrics and technical textiles industry. IFAI’s goal is to promote awareness of the specialty fabrics used in thousands of products and applications in the growing, $130 billion-plus dollar global fabrics marketplace.
