Published On: December 17, 2018

The Fabricated Geomembrane Institute (FGI) will sponsor a free webinar “Geosynthetic Interface Shear Testing,” on Jan. 22, 2019, from noon to 1 p.m. CDT.

In this presentation, Robert Swan of Drexel University will discuss the different methods of measuring geosynthetic interface shear strength, describe industry standard test methods and explore the accreditation process for laboratories conducting interface shear testing. In addition, this webinar will review the interface direct shear test concept, test equipment, selection of interface shear test conditions, typical data presentations, interruption, reporting and development of an interface direct shear testing work plan.

Swan is an associate teaching professor in the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at Drexel University. He provides instructional teaching for soil mechanics and foundation design, construction materials, building systems, hydraulics and hydrology, and surveying courses as a learned professor, and he plays a key role in course material development and oversight, assessment and advisement.

Participants are eligible for 1 professional development hour (PDH).
