Solmax announced the appointment of Eric Blond to serve as its global technical services director, effective June 3. Blond holds nearly 25 years of experience in geosynthetic testing, research and knowledge of civil engineering and polymeric construction materials.
“I am delighted to welcome Eric to our senior leadership team as we continue to fulfill Solmax’s vision of reshaping the fast-growing geosynthetics industry,” said Mathieu Cornellier, vice president of technical services and business development at Solmax.
“Eric’s expertise in design, material specification and performance assessment of several hundreds of projects involving geosynthetics combined with our collaboration in the past, will provide us with the technical leadership needed to drive our growth ambitions in the geosynthetics space,” Cornellier added.
Commenting on his appointment, Blond said, “I am excited to join Solmax at a time of ambitious change. I believe we will be able to expand the market through innovation and by promoting Solmax’s high quality standards, while helping to solve our customers’ most pressing containment and protection engineering challenges.”
Blond holds a master’s degree in geotechnical engineering and has served for more than 20 years within the CTT Group, where he was in charge of the geosynthetics division known as SAGEOS. He is an invited lecturer at École Polytechnique de Montreal, a widely published author, conference speaker and trainer.
Blond continues to be involved in various committee, standard development and professional organizations dedicated to the geotechnical, geosynthetic and related industries, such as the Canadian Geotechnical Society, the International Geosynthetics Society, American Society for Testing and Materials Committee D35, and the International Organization for Standardization TC221.
