Robert M. Koerner and his wife Pauline W. Koerner have passed away. The Koerner family has released information on their passing to GSI Members. The notice to the Geosynthetic Institute (GSI) says, “It is with regret and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert M. and Pauline W. Koerner. As you know Bob was a long-standing professor of Civil Engineering at Drexel University. Together with Paula, they founded the Geosynthetic Institute (GSI) as a research organization with international outreach programs for the design of geosynthetic materials in construction. At home, Bob was an avid distance runner while Paula was an accomplished gardener, talented tailor and fantastic cook. They are already greatly missed. They are survived by three children: Michael (wife Mary) Koerner, George (wife Jamie) Koerner, and Pauline (husband Doug) Limberg, and six grandchildren. We know that this is a shock to many of you, however our parent’s health was deteriorating rapidly in the last few months.”
