Groupe Bellon Prestige celebrates 125th anniversary

Published On: July 8, 2020

Groupe Bellon Prestige, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, is celebrating its 125th anniversary in the shade and awning business. Established in 1895 by Joseph K. Bellon, the family business is now in its fourth generation of operation and is chaired by Carole Bellon. According to a recent press release, the company builds, stores and repairs more than 5,000 custom awnings and shelters each year.

Bellon’s contributions to Canadian shade aesthetics have been evident in many high-profile events. The company’s designs were on stage during King George VI’s 1939 visit, when many business owners asked the Bellon family for custom awnings to enhance the appearance of their shops. In addition, Bellon had a big role in fabrications for Expo67 and the Montreal Olympic Games. In 2020, the company has been called upon to produce screening sites for COVID-19.
