Brian P. Shiels, senior PPE engineer for ArcWear, will serve a three-year term on the ASTM International board of directors.

Shiels has served in his current role since 2019, having previously held positions at PBI Performance Products before joining ArcWear in 2018.

An ASTM International member since 2008, Shiels serves as chair of the Committee on Standards. He is also vice-chair of the committee on personal protective clothing and equipment, and chair of its flame and thermal subcommittee. In addition, Shiels is vice-chair, product manufacturing practices, of the committee on textiles, and a member of the committees on homeland security applications and electrical protective equipment for workers.

ASTM International’s board of directors is made up of 25 leaders from an array of companies, associations and government bodies worldwide.
