U.K.-based Concrete Canvas Ltd. and Canada-based Titan Environmental Containment Ltd. announced the renewal of their sales partnership after signing of a new three-year Canadian distribution agreement that continues to make Titan the exclusive distributor for Concrete Canvas in Canada. Concrete Canvas Ltd. is the manufacturer of Concrete Canvas geosynthetic concrete composite mats (GCCM), based in Talbot Green, Wales, U.K. Titan Environmental Containment Ltd., a supplier, installer and fabricator of  geosynthetics, is based in Ile Des Chenes, Man., Canada,

Building on this successful partnership, the two companies also announced the expansion of Titan’s distribution of Concrete Canvas into the United States through their subsidiaries, Titan Environmental USA and Concrete Canvas USA. This expansion comes with an additional agreement granting Titan exclusive distribution rights for Concrete Canvas in California, Nevada and Arizona. This agreement also grants Titan exclusive Concrete Canvas distribution in the mining sector in the western U.S., including in New Mexico, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah and Montana.

“We’re delighted to be renewing our partnership with Titan and to build upon the exponential growth that both companies are seeing across the Canadian geosynthetic market,” says Phill Greer, U.K. and North America business development manager for Concrete Canvas. “Over the past three years in challenging conditions, Titan has demonstrated a passion and excellence for innovation to match our own, and we’re incredibly excited to see what the future holds as we continue to develop GCCMs and their applications in the erosion control market.”

“We, at Titan, are thrilled to have extended our exclusive Canadian distribution agreement with Concrete Canvas and are equally excited to enter into an agreement allowing us to expand distribution of Concrete Canvas into the U.S. market,” says Juice Lambert, vice president of sales for Titan. “We are proud to continue representing this quality, premium product and look forward to ongoing growth and success in the many sectors we serve.”

Concrete Canvas GCCMs are a flexible, concrete-filled geotextile that hardens on hydration to form a thin, durable and waterproof concrete layer. The GCCMs allow concrete construction without the need for plant or mixing equipment: Just add water. Concrete Canvas consists of a 3D fiber matrix containing a specially formulated dry concrete mix. A polyvinyl chloride (PVC) backing on one surface of the GCCM ensures the material has excellent impermeability. Concrete Canvas can be hydrated either by spraying or by being fully immersed in water. Once set, the fibers reinforce the concrete, preventing crack propagation and providing a safe, plastic failure mode.

Concrete Canvas has several core applications, with the main one being channel lining for scour and erosion protection. Other applications include bund lining, slope protection, weed suppression and remediation of existing concrete infrastructure. It is used in a wide variety of sectors, including mining, oil and gas, public utilities, water and waste management, and civil infrastructure.

“Titan has been a Concrete Canvas partner and advocate for many years in Canada and we look forward to bringing their expertise and knowledge to the U.S. geosynthetics and erosion control market,” says Melanie Fuhrman, general manager for Concrete Canvas USA. “Together, Concrete Canvas USA and Titan will be able to achieve rapid expansion of GCCMs into their key markets by delivering quality and innovative products to the engineering community.”
