Questions to ask after an equipment purchase

Making a strategic decision about what equipment to buy is only the first step in getting the most value out of that investment.

“My best advice to all customers buying [printing] equipment is to stick with the branded inks, the manufacturers’ suggestion for ink,” says Jason Bartusick of Media One Digital Imaging Solutions LLC. “When you switch to third-party ink, you lose your warranties, the equipment doesn’t necessarily run as well and you lose your support.”

At Event Resource Group, Atlanta, Ga., every piece of equipment is on a schedule to be repaired and replaced. “Tracking equipment usage and scheduling maintenance enables us to prevent costly repairs at the wrong time,” says owner Christopher Whitlow.
