For their 125th Anniversary, Hearst Corp. approached Color X Inc. to produce banners to be displayed in their iconic Manhattan office building’s seventh floor atrium. As one of the nation’s largest diversified media and information companies, they wanted to highlight areas of achievement, including music, visual arts, magazine and book publishing.

Their exhibition and café areas sit on the 3rd floor, which circles the main entrance below, offering three floors of “air” space for banners above the exhibition space and café. A total of 18 double-sided, 4.5-by-29-foot banners were produced using dye-sublimation on poplin with a blockout layer. The company also fabricated custom hardware for hanging the banner, using the existing structural supports with the hardware concealed.
