Marine Fabricators Association (MFA) Southeast Regional Workshop was a hit with attendees and exhibitors gaining new knowledge from beneficial educational sessions. The workshop was held in Southern Stitch Canvas & Upholstery LLC’s marine shop, on Oct. 25–26, in Gulfport, Miss., USA.
Hands-on education sessions included a step-by-step process of digital patterning software and demonstration of upholstery on a cutting table taught by Southern Stitch Canvas & Upholstery LLC’s shop owner Steve Wayne. Richard Givens, George Givens & Sons, shared his extensive knowledge of sewing machine maintenance and used a large wooden needle prop to explain various parts of a needle and the importance of changing needles regularly. Industrial Fabrics Association (IFAI) member Kathryn Maisto provided techniques for roll cushion and member Keith Purves, MFC, showed off his sewing skills while demoing how to sew on a U-zipper. Attendees also had time to network and meet up with the table top suppliers to learn about new products and services.
